The
Education of the Young Theatre Professional
At the Ritz, realistic education of the young artist is of utmost
importance. Through doing and studying, we meet our goals.
To create an environment that is full of encouragement, support and strong
technical support is the key to our creative growth. We encourage all to
reach beyond their abilities and accept the results of their grasp as their
best. We create an atmosphere where it is just as safe to fail as it is to
succeed.
By engaging professionals to guide and direct these efforts we will insure
the education of our young artists and prepare them for both on stage and
off.
Programs to help insure these guidelines:
1. Main stage Series of four musicals and two straight plays
using age appropriate and non-traditional casting.
2. The Training Centre at the Ritz - classes for youth and adults
3. Summer Arts Day Camp at the Ritz - Junior and Senior Camps
4. An active volunteer program introducing young people to our work
Reaching out to the Community We Serve
As artists, it is our responsibility to be part of the community we serve.
By reflecting their needs and gifts we create programs that truly make a
difference. By introducing our audiences to new works, a great variety of
existing works, and new twists to old properties we continue to educate and
entertain. By stretching ourselves, we stretch our audience.
Supporting our community within our theatre and taking the Theatre to them
accomplishes these responsibilities. Introducing the art to our community
happens in a multitude of ways and the power and impact that live theatre
has on our community will never be treated lightly.Ways we keep in touch with our community:
1. Physical presence by personnel in the lobby
2. Audience surveys gain feedback
3. Membership in Community organizations
4. Helping organizations use the art of theatre as a tool to educate and
inform
5. Working with Boards of Education and educational institutions to be part
of the formal education process
6. Artistic Advisory Board
7. Education Advisory Board
The Quality Presentation of Theatre
Throughout all its endeavors, the Ritz strives to create a stimulating
environment for its artists, fosters and demonstrates our belief in theatre
as an art form of the highest integrity, and works to engage and challenge
audiences of divergent tastes and backgrounds. Some of our goals in this
endeavor are as follows:
1. To continue to improve the overall quality of our programs a. Improve
compensation and quality of all our programs
b. Maintain high production standards
c. Expand regional and national marketing efforts to enhance the
institutional image.
2. To strive for program accessibility in an effort to make theatre
performances available to all audiences.
3. To develop and showcase regional artists through our professional
training programs.
4. To provide physical space to accommodate the needs of the theatre.

5. To ensure state-wide, diverse representation on the Board.
Accessible Theatre
By Accessible Theatre we mean the removal of any and all barriers. Barriers
as we know them are obstacles that stop or discourage any potential guest
from attending a Ritz production or activity. Barriers are in many shapes
and are often disguised. With training and sensitivity our Ritz community
keeps aware of barriers and works to remove them upon their discovery
